Alejandra (or Ale) holds a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature and Society from Columbia University and a Master of Studies in Comparative Literature and Critical Translation from the University of Oxford. They’re currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University. Ale is an Editor-at-Large for Puerto Rico at Asymptote, and they also sometimes do editorial and translation work for The Paris Review. Her translation work has been supported by the Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference. They are the co-organizer, alongside Mary Noorlander, of Translation Station in NYC: a biweekly gathering for translators and learners of languages.
Ale has conducted research in the classroom and beyond on medieval & early modern Iberian and French lyric poetry, translation theory, contemporary debates in the art world, and Puerto Rican literature and politics.
